2004 Bodegas Vicente GandiaTempranillo Reserva Hoya de Cadenas, Spain

A rustic traditionally made Tempranillo from a vintage that produced better than average wines. Among the competition at this price level, this one finds itself trailing the front runners. The fruit a bit muted in aromas and flavors and on the palate the finish was not long and that was a good thing because it was a bit rough. Not necessarily a bad wine, in fact if you are heading somewhere and you are supposed to bring wine this one will satisfy all but the most finicky Tempranillo geeks and I guess I might fit into that category. ~Marc Hinton

Rating: 86 | $15 | 12.5% ABV
