2004 Taltarni Shiraz

2004 Taltarni Shiraz

This is the second Shiraz from the Pyrenees’s region of Australia that I have had the pleasure of tasting and I’m officially a fan. The 2004 vintage was produced in dry conditions and for many wineries, this means lower yields but more concentrated fruit. With no previous vintage tasted from this producer this would be hard for me to qualify. All that being said, this is a very good wine. Classic Shiraz aromas of big dark fruit jam and spice; the palate was pleasant with no distractions and the finish worked. We paired this with rack of lamb and it worked well.

Rating: 89 | $15 | 14.0% ABV

I don’t think I’ve seen this in my local stores but I’ll ask my steward if its available.

You can’t go wrong with a rack of lamb and Shiraz.
