Wine Maps: New Zealand – Hawk’s Bay

This map depicts wineries and tasting rooms within the Hawk’s Bay region of New Zealand. It is one of many maps generated to support the “Wine Regions of the World” series.

Hawke’s Bay is New Zealand’s oldest wine region and the 2nd largest. Located at 39.4°S, (the same as Madrid in the North), Hawke’s Bay is in the North Island of NZ and has a warm maritime climate. Red wines dominate with over 80% of New Zealand’s plantings of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah grapes. They also specialize in rich and complex Chardonnays. For more information on this region, visit the Hawk’s Bay Winegrowers, Inc site.
