2004 Kendall Jackson Grand Reserve Merlot, Sonoma, CA

2004 Kendall Jackson Grand Reserve Merlot, Sonoma, CA

The 2004 Kendall-Jackson Grand Reserve Merlot represents the fruit from the 2004 harvest well. A tightly wound Merlot with layers of herbs that begin with a strong dose of mint. This wine has structure and complexity not characteristically associated with Merlot and will be a favorite for those who want to be known for drinking Merlot without all the supple softness and soft tannins. Chocolate and dark berry fruit awaits the palate after the initial hit of herbs, cedar and violet. The finish is long, chewy and tannic. It will most likely soften in a few years. Culinary pairings include grilled meats, strong cheeses and chocolate desserts.

Rating: Very Good (87) | $26 | 14.5% ABV
