This varietal is often overlooked in the United States and what a shame because it is a beautiful expression of one of the better white wine grapes coming out of Italy these days. This wine is fermented 100% in stainless tanks where it spent 3 months in contact with the lees. It is bracing in its initial expression. Bright, keen, almost explosive in its aromas of floral white and citrus zest. The balance between acidity and fruit was impeccable and endearing. The first sip of this wine had me thinking this might be one of the best white wines I’ve tasted this summer and as it warmed a bit, the expressions of flavor broadened. The lusciousness of the floral flavors and aromas has turned crisp and clean as it spreads across the mid palate the wine has a touch of minerality and the finish lingers briefly. A stand alone sipper, open the door greeter and fantastic accompaniment for a bevy of cuisines. Simple seafood works well with this bright, honest, workhorse of a wine that works with almost any shellfish and light whitefish.
