2009 Suavia Soave Classico DOC, Veneto, Italy

2009 Suavia Soave Classico DOC, Veneto, Italy

95% Garganega and 5% Trebbiano di Soave (Verdicchio) this wine was probably one of the best whites from Verona in the Veneto region of Italy I have ever tasted. It might be overlooked for its light but distinctive flavors by wine consumers who are a little light in the wallet or need a hammer over the head type wine to pick up any flavors for anything to register. Light and perfumed followed by peachy notes and on the palate, we will continue that theme adding to the peachiness the strong flavor of crisp green apples.  There is plenty going on here, it is just very subtle. A complimentary dish that reminds me of the style this wine projects would be a clean fresh risotto, like a perfectly cooked risotto with fresh ricotta and summer peas and lemon zest.

Rating: Excellent (90) | $21 | 13.0% ABV

You got my vote – anything with seafood and a Soave is right up my alley :)
