2008 Angel Vine Zinfandel Les Collines Vineyard Walla Walla Valley

2008 Angel Vine Zinfandel Les Collines Vineyard Walla Walla Valley

Another great wine from Ed Fus that was made from LIVE and Salmon Safe certified sustainably grown grapes. Big, bold, smooth and tasty sums up how I felt about this wine. It is really exciting that someone in the Willamette Valley is making alternatives to Pinot Noir. When I ran tasting rooms in Willamette Valley there were a lot of guests from out of town that would walk in and see five Pinot Noirs on the list along with a good selection of whites and be disappointed until they noticed at the bottom of the list a Syrah and a Merlot. When those guests would get ready to leave I would always point out if they would head to Carlton, Oregon, there were several tasting rooms who poured wines other than Pinot Noir and Angel Vine was one of them. This wine exhibited so many qualities I look for in a bold red wine. The aromas of dark red fruit and spice almost leap from the glass as this one is swirled. In the mouth, it dances on your palate like Barry White oozing a sexiness that is big, full and satisfying. All of the components come together to create a package that is more than what you might expect from this varietal coming out of Walla Walla. Smooth enough to be at home with elegant meals and bold enough to lead the parade at any grill fest.

Rating: Excellent (91) | $20 | 14.0% ABV
