2007 Ottimino Rancho Bello Vineyard Russian River Valley Zinfandel

2007 Ottimino Rancho Bello Vineyard Russian River Valley Zinfandel

A well-made interesting Zinfandel that stayed true to the varietal with some expressions that are unique. Aromas that drip deep dark berryliciousness wrapped in a spicy blanket of freshly brewed espresso wafting from the creama as it drips into the cup. Intense like the aromas, the smoothness of this wine in the mouth was surprising. The flavors echo the aromas with a bit more intensity if that is even possible with dried cherry topping out the flavor profile. Texturally, this is a sexy wine gliding across the palate as the flavors tantalize your sense. This one arouses more than just your taste receptors. It is a big wine with complexity and grace and it will rev up any cuisine it is served with. This wines presence alone will definitely raise the food up a notch. If you bring this wine to a dinner party let your host know when it comes to the food—they better bring their A-game, go big or go home, oh wait a minute they are already at home but I think you get the point. So if you are out having dinner and see this one on the list and you aim to impress this is a good choice as long as food is boldly braised, grilled or smoked. Enjoy!

Rating: Excellent (90) | $32 | 15.1% ABV
