2007 Raptor Ridge Willamette Valley Pinot Noir Reserve

2007 Raptor Ridge Willamette Valley Pinot Noir Reserve

This wine is one of the better examples from the 2007 vintage. Arbre Vert, Dion-Shaw, Eds, Gran Morraine, Hawks View, Meredith Mitchell, Stony Mountain, and Yamhill Springs vineyards provided fruit for this wine. That is really quite a cuvee. Plenty of cherry notes on the nose and some minerality keep this blend from many vineyards interesting. The earthy flavors marry well with the vanilla from the oak regimen and the cherry aromas turn to tart cherry on the palate. The finish is pleasant but remains slightly tart making this a wine that will age gracefully for a while to come something many Willamette Valley 2007 Pinot Noirs cannot claim. The acidity that accompanies the slight tartness makes this a fantastic food wine and the medium body and forward fruit makes it versatile enough to pair with a wide variety of cuisines.

Rating: Excellent (90) | $35 | 13.5% ABV

I enjoy Oregon Pinot as much as the Burgundy wines. I am interested to try this.
