Ramos Pintos 20 Year Tawny DOC Douro Port Portugal

Ramos Pintos 20 Year Tawny

While I might say from time to time just because it is a tradition it doesn’t mean it’s all good if I tried to apply that statement to this winery I would be wrong. Also, if I made that assessment concerning this wine I would be 100% wrong. This winery is steeped in tradition and probably one of the most beautiful places in the world. The wines for Ramos Pintos are primarily made at Quinta do Bom Retiro. A perfect blend of savory, nutty and a touch of sweetness that carries orange peel, hazelnut and fresh scraped vanilla bean essence from aromas to initial palate impressions this port delivers an experience that tantalizes the senses in every way possible. The finish is as smooth as the initial impression upon the palate bringing a pleasurable event full circle. Dried Oregon Cherries and Roasted Marcona Almonds and Triple Cream Cheese would be a traditional pairing. If you want to try something outside the box combine a recipe for southern pecan and pumpkin pie. You will find it is a perfect pairing. Joao Nicolau de Almedia runs a tight ship and the products produced under his supervision reflect his dedication and determination.

Rating: Outstanding (95) | $70 | 19.5% ABV
