2008 Davis Family Russian River Valley Chardonnay

2008 Davis Family Russian River Valley Chardonnay

A Chardonnay that represents a style that a lot of Chardonnay makers have started to get away from. Instead of the unoaked austere style that does not see malolactic fermentation or barrel aging, this wine is a combination of both techniques. The grapes are all organically farmed. 30% of this juice is fermented in stainless steel barrels and does not see malolactic or wood aging. The other 70% is full cluster pressed and ferments with only naturally occurring yeast. Aromas begin with a hint of white floral unique to the 2008 vintage and fills out with a bold citrus presence. In the mouth, the wine has a soft texture and full-bodied flavors with lemon zest and vanilla cream. A luxurious lengthy finish completes the package. Any kind of buttery seafood like lobster or crab will match well; this wine will also pair well with creamy vanilla deserts.

Rating: Very Good (88) | $36 | 14.1% ABV
