2008 Roth Estate Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

2008 Roth Estate Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

This wine is a good representation of this sub-appellation of Sonoma bringing to the table classic Cabernet Sauvignon aromas and flavors. Produced from young vines this wine will develop complexity with a couple more years of cellaring showcasing the vintage with just a bit more intensity than the wine is showing right now. In the future look to this winery to produce complex well balanced wines in vintages where good weather provided pristine fruit for the winemaker to work with. The bouquet is a complete package showing notes of currants, dark berries and tanned leather. The flavors exhibit the vanilla that 18 months of cellaring in French and American oak will bring along with a touch of fresh ground nutmeg and the same fruit characteristics expressed in the aromas. A perfect fit for wintertime comfort food like slowly braised beef or a grilled rib eye steak.

Rating: Very Good (89) | $28 | 14.4% ABV
