2008 Marchesi de Frescobaldi Castello di Nipozzano Chianti Rufina Riserva

This Chianti shows some sophistication that a lot of wineries fail to coax out of their Sangiovese. Complex aromas of ripe bing cherry and a hint of black pepper with nuances of fresh coffee beans and cocoa complete the aroma profile. A clean vibrant acidity reverberates through the mid-palate due to the maturation in only stainless steel vats foregoing any barrel aging. This is a well-balanced wine with acidity in check and a broad spectrum of flavors with an almost endless finish. It is a good match for tomato based pasta sauces, braised or grilled meats and roasted fowl dishes. It would also be awesome with almost any pizza.

Rating: Excellent (90) | $23 | 13.5% ABV
