This is another great wine we tasted at the Wine Spectator Grand Tour Event, which took place in Las Vegas. Coming from Oregon to attend national wine events, it is always endearing to see wineries from your area. It is also an extreme moment of pride to see Oregon wines tasted on an international platform. Tasting Lachini wines in that context was a great experience and without the Wine Spectator putting on events like the Grand Tour it would not be possible.
We tasted this wine on three separate occasions in three different locations with consistent notes. Earthy bright red fruit aromas emanate the moment the bottle is opened and the cascading berry train expands explosively as the wine comes to life in the glass. The fruit aromas subside slightly and the wine starts to express subtle nuances of mocha cream and raspberry. It is a tango on the tongue providing textural pleasures and complex compelling full spectrum flavors with depth and grace. This is a big wine especially for Willamette Pinot noir but it is not heavy. The finish is fantastic. I found I loved the finish on this wine so much it was consumed much slower. The pairing of cuisine with this wine is easy—just keep it simple and let the wine be the star.
Rating: Excellent (93) | $45 | 13.8% ABV
