This Chardonnay comes from a region known to produce great whites with a good dose of acidity. It is a sub-appellation of the larger Monterey AVA; a region that enjoys lots of morning fog that burns off in the afternoon allowing the grapes to soak up a good amount of southern exposure goodness.
What you’ll love about this wine is its clean, straightforward, no nonsense Chardonnay style that showcases its tropical banana and pineapple characteristics kissed with a touch of peach and apple. This wine kicks it with a high quality-to-price (QPR) ratio, meaning, it cannot be beat for the money. If you want a pairing to knock it out of the park, try blackened scallops with a fruit chutney salsa—a perfect yin and yang that will contrast and compliment in perfect harmony.
On a side note, I happened to review this wine a few months ago. I re-tasted it to confirm its greatness, and even bumped it up a notch in kudos, which shows how 1) environmental factors (I drank the first sample shortly after shipment) and/or 2) bottle aging and/or 3) taster influences and factors play a part in the reviewing process. Booyah!
