This is a right bank Bordeaux poser of a different color. By that, I mean most of the wines that have this particular blend of Bordeaux varieties with Merlot as the lead horse on the stagecoach tend to be soft and not very complex. This wine is just the opposite of that; it was more like a gitty-up and go full throttle, hold tight to the reigns kind of experience. This wine will not be everyone’s cup of tea. That being said if you are fond of dense, rustic, big bold flavors, you will love this wine. Opening aromas begin with vanilla, spice, cherries and fresh Dominican cigar tobacco leaf. The flavors of dark chocolate covered cherry cordials entwined with dark ripe blackberries linger on the palette through the long finish. There is no such thing as cuisine too big to pair with this wine. I would recommend staying clear of complex pairings or you will not be able to appreciate all the pieces to this Puzzle.
