Wine Review: 2009 Lenne Yamhill-Carlton Oregon Pinot Noir

This wine is a cuvee from five different clones all of which play well together creating a harmonious package of tasty goodness. If Buddy Ebsen who played Jed Clampett on the Beverly Hillbillies were still around he would give this wine a “whoo-doggies”. Yeah it is that good. Focused and refined, this bottling exudes the distinctive terroir of the Yamhill-Carlton district.

Ripe red and black fruit aromas open generously with minimal breathing time. Opulent dark cherry and raspberry crème caramel flavors cascade across the palate delivering a seductive texturally pleasing finish. Culinary pairings are broad. However, you should keep it simple and let the complexity of the wine shine through. This winery is picking up steam and keeping the train on the tracks. Lenne is a name to remember.

Rating: Excellent (91) | $45 | 14.8% ABV

Mark, thanks for reviewing the wine. I would just add that this wine is best in cool weather. God knows, I will be drinking a lot of it over the next couple of winters.

  2. Steve,
Thanks for the comment and I will have to add this wine was excellent
in warm weather and if it tastes better when consumed during cooler temperatures I can hardly wait for fall to be upon us. Hopefully all of this vintage will be safely aging someplace else besides your cellar by next winter. I’m already thinking about hearty fall food to pair up with this fine elixir. Coq au vin or gnocchi with local mushrooms would do the trick.
