Wine Review: 2009 Hess Allomi Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

This is a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from a vineyard that produces great fruit year after year. It probably helps the overall package that this 210 acre vineyard has six different clones grown on 35 distinctly different blocks. The 9% Petite Sirah blended into this wine adds a bit of oomph and complexity. The rich dark fruit flavors are balanced with a generous dose of fresh vanilla bean obtained through a barrel regimen that brings a lot of positive profile development in the 16 months plus spent in oak. This wine is full flavored with balanced acidity and well integrated tannins. A style of Cabernet Sauvignon that will pair well with a lot of different cuisines, just stay away from delicate seafood and/or citrusy sauces. I know I would be thrilled to have this at my dinner table any night of the week. 30,000 case production.

Rating: Very Good (89) | $28 | 14.4% ABV
