Hawks View Cellars Current Releases
So many visitors who come to Portland, Oregon seldom take advantage of visiting the many wineries located close to the city, and that is not a good thing! One of the do not miss wineries is…
… Hawks View Cellars. They are located just to the southwest of Portland (about a 40-minute drive) in the city of Sherwood, Oregon. Hawks View Cellars separate themselves from many other wineries here because they make wine from grapes not grown in Oregon. As Jack Kemp (proprietor) likes to say “We are geographically agnostic; just because we cannot grow it doesn’t mean we can’t produce it.”
In 2014, the winery announced they had garnered the services of Adam Lee of Siduri Wines as their head winemaker. Adam sourced fruit from the Hawks View Vineyard for his Siduri Oregon Pinot noir long before Hawks View Cellars came into existence. The Kemp’s were impressed that of all the California vintners who purchased their fruit, Adam visited the most often. It probably also helped that Siduri’s wines receive some of the highest accolades in the industry.
Below, we have three reviews of Hawk’s View Cellars current releases from the 2012 vintage; one estate grown Pinot noir, a Washington State red blend, and a California Syrah. These three wines were fermented prior to Adam Lee coming aboard at the winery. Mr. Lee did have a hand in the final blending. There is a limited amount of these wines, and they are only being sold at the winery.
