2013 Bitner Vineyards Erletxe Tempranillo, Snake River Valley, Idaho

Winery owner and bee biologist Ron Bitner made this wine as a tribute to the friends he made in Basque country. The Spanish name, Erletxe, pronounced ‘air-LAY-chay’, translates to ‘bee house’.

The wine has an unanticipated sweet aroma with jammy strawberry, plum and blackberry flavors. The finish is smooth and seductive with a tinge of tobacco that rounds out the fruitiness of the wine.  Pair it with herb-crusted pork or lamb, with sauces that integrate fresh rosemary, oregano and thyme. Delicious!!

Very Good | $35 | 13.2% ABV
