2011 Quinta dos Murças Reserva Covelinhas Single Quinta Vintage Port

2011 Quinta dos Murças Reserva Covelinhas Single Quinta Vintage Port, Douro, Portugal

Portuguese wines from this vintage hold a special place in my heart, because I had the pleasure of participating in the 2011 Douro harvest. With only five years in the barrel, this wine is still showing a bit young, but feisty, signalling a whole lot of development in character when it settles down.

Rustic and initially slightly rough with briar and berry mingled among the smoky seductive chocolate notes, this wine smooths out as it breathes. Grilled peaches and goat cheese with Hood River Cherry compote paired well as would DOP Terrincho cheese from the same region as the wine.

Very Good | $65 | 20.0% ABV
